Badgers, Mystery, and a Whole Lot of Trouble

When neighbours, Doctor and Mrs Jones, disappear, leaving a blood-spattered scene behind them, Helen is unsure what to think.  Anxious to protect their 12 year old son, Jack, whose unique take on the world often lands him in trouble, Helen and her husband Tom, try to keep the more disturbing details under wraps. With a police investigation going on next door, that’s easier said than done.

While the investigation continues, Helen juggles caring for her elderly grandmother, whose dementia is worsening, managing Jack’s daily misadventures, and supporting their teenage daughter, Maisie. Maisie, an aspiring journalist, has won a local radio competition and is about to broadcast a series of interviews about her Local Hero, who happens to be the absent Doctor Jones. 
Just as Helen thinks life cannot get any more complicated, a compulsory purchase order lands on the mat.
